Palestinian Sovereignty

After the euphoria over the vote [UN bid for Statehood], Palestinians will return to their harsh reality. They lack most trappings of statehood, including control over borders, airspace or trade. In a further complication, they are ruled by rival governments, one run by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank and the other by the Islamic militant group Hamas in Gaza.

Yet, Palestinians say the recognition isn't just symbolic. They believe U.N. recognition will strengthen their hand in future talks with Israel, which has lambasted the Palestinian move as an attempt to bypass such negotiations. The warm embrace by the international community could also help Abbas, who led the recognition appeal, restore some of his domestic standing, which has been eroded by years of standstill in peace efforts. Hamas, entrenched in Gaza, has seen its popularity rise after holding its own during an Israeli offensive on targets linked to the Islamists there earlier this month.

After initially criticizing the U.N. bid as an empty gesture, Hamas has come around to supporting the popular move, with reservations...yes,it isn't much, but it a step in the right direction..It is unfortunate to have the first Black US president against the aspiration of any suffering people. The very corrupt and irrelevant U.N created the State of Israel In 1948,by caving the land of Palestine.

Personally I do believe Israel has the legitimate right to exists in Palestine because the Jews and the Arabs are children of the same father Abraham ..something it seems that most so-called evangelicals and American politicians to accept. This is not a matter of pro-Israel or pro-Palestinians anymore..It is a matter of Humanity..Jesus-Christ..!!!U.S cannot or should not allowed the Israelis dictates the rules of negotiations..for the love of the just God,whom ever he may be to you...for the sake of the world peace..U.S has to remain somehow a neutral party between the brothers. The Palestinians have been suffering long enough..they deserves to control their own lives and their own futures...they've earned and inherited their States...This is very sad to see the US is repeating or perpetuating the same evil and racist policies of supporting another type of apartheid like the former South Africa.
