The People’s Universal Life Church of Christ (PULCC) is a spiritual organization founded in 2007, by the ordained minister Rev. Joseph Jean-Jacques. The church is dedicated to promoting spirituality and mutual respect throughout humanity. The organization is particularly dedicated to creating charitable and social entrepreneurial ventures in the nation of Haiti.

The organization and the work that it provides have its roots in the life and work of Rev. Jean-Jacques mother, Soeur Sylvanie Joseph.  Sylvanie was a prosperous and independent business woman from the Carrefour area who sold wholesale amounts of rice and other commodities. Throughout her life she aided countless friends, relatives, and community members with food supplies in a country where eating was not always guaranteed. Sylvanie was a proud woman, church goer and community leader, of Pentecostal Christian faith whose life molded Rev. Jean-Jacques’ sense of social consciousness:

PEOPLES: This church is an organization centered on provided services for the people by the people. We aim to uplift people’s life through the promotion of spirituality as well as economic and environmental sustainability.

UNIVERSAL: We recognize all humans as children of the same creator. All faiths and forms of worships are merely different interpretations and methods of communicating with the divine world. Beyond all faiths lies a perennial philosophy.

LIFE: Beyond money, wealth, power and other material objects, life is the most valuable thing in the universe and should be the ultimate concern for each human.

CHURCH: A place of worship whether it be the sacred temple of the human body, or a random hill where believers are listening to the word of Christ, to the corner of a ghetto, any place that the spirit exist is a place where one can worship the lord.

CHRIST: Jesus Christ was one of the most respected prophets and philosophers for his ideals about the divinity that exist within all, and his philosophy of divine love between humans. He opposed the imperial order of the Roman Empire that placed themselves as lawmakers of the Earth in place of the holy spirit. He also opposed the leading religious institutions of the day which had degenerated into gross privation and corruption. Because of his radical opposition and activism against both the religious order and the empire he was crucified. Jesus Christ's life and death continues to serve as a landmark example for spirituality and social consciousness.

Currently the PULCC is working on several projects targeting ways to provide energy, agriculture/irrigation, and education in improvised areas in Haiti. As an independent Haitian organization we seek to collaborate with other Haitian organizations that seek to promote environmental and economic sustainability amongst Haitians. If you are interested in collaborating with us please feel free to leave a message in our contact box.
